Two Caboolture men have been charged with stealing 16 brass plaques from headstones in a cemetery at Beerwah on November 1.
It’s alleged the plaques had been damaged to remove the names and sold to second hand dealers for the value of the metal.
25 plaques have been recovered from the Roys Road cemetery and police are concerned more have been targeted.
Authorities found three grinders at a Peachester property last Friday and charged two Caboolture men with the theft of the plaques.
They want help from the public to identify the names on the plaques and to check if there have been more thefts at other cemeteries.
We’re being asked to report any missing plaques from headstones to police or the local cemetery.
