A man with a cardiac condition has been rescued from a cruise ship.
The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight helicopter was tasked at 12.45pm Saturday to the ship, which was 30 nautical miles north of K’gari, and heading from Singapore to Brisbane.
The man in his 60s suffered a cardiac event on board with initial treatment provided by the ship’s medical team.
The LifeFlight critical care doctor, rescue crew officer and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic were winched down to the ship where the man was further assessed and prepared for transport.
The team was winched back to the helicopter with the patient who was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
