No hiking or riding through a section of Mooloolah River National Park, off Steve Irwin Way, this week.
Queensland Parks and Wildlife workers are conducting a planned burn in the Meridan Hill section from today through until Thursday.
All trails in the area will be closed for the duration of the planned burn.
The public is asked to observe all signage and barriers, and not to enter closed areas.
As a result of the planned burn, smoke may be seen in the Glenview, Mooloolah and Landsborough areas and traffic control will also be in place along eastern sections of Steve Irwin Way.
A Department of Environment and Science spokesperson says smoke may be visible on surrounding roads, including the Bruce Highway.
“Smoke can reduce visibility on roads, so it is important motorists always drive to the prevailing conditions.
“Any person who may be affected by smoke should also take any necessary precautions.”
The aim of the burn is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas.
