A Sunshine Coast-based chopper company is assisting with the outback Queensland flood emergency.
McDermott Aviation has sent two choppers to Charleville and one to Longreach.

Operations manager, Damien Lindsay, says they’re performing a variety of tasks including flying swift water rescue teams around, evacuations and resupply jobs.
Mr Lindsay said the choppers can fly for between two-and-a-half to three-and-a-half hours depending on the fuel setup and have a range of around 300km.

He says it’s possible they will fly a couple more choppers out west soon when they return from firefighting duties in Tasmania.
The company also has choppers fighting fires in Perth.
Mr Lindsay says it highlights the extreme weather currently being experienced around Australia.
