Two teenagers have died at a popular waterfall near Yandina on the Sunshine Coast.
Emergency services initially responded to reports a 17-year-old girl fell off a waterfall at Wappa Falls and failed to resurface around 2:30pm yesterday.
A friend of the girl, a 17-year-old boy, jumped into the water to rescue the girl but also failed to resurface.
A search and rescue operation started around 2.50pm with Queensland Fire Department swift water rescue crews and police divers.
About 3:30pm the missing girl was found deceased in the water.
At about 7:25pm the body of the missing boy was found by police divers.
Police will prepare reports for the coroner for the pair.
Wappa Falls remains closed as investigations continue.
