McDonalds love to drop fun limited-edition items like their recent Cheesy Jalapeño bites or Cadbury Caramilk Hokey Pokey McFlurry.
This time, a true Aussie icon has taken the spotlight, but it’s the name of the new item that has Aussies divided – the potato cake/scallop/fritter.
If you’re a Victorian it will be the potato cake, if you’re from New South Wales chances are it’s called a potato scallop and you people in SA call it a potato fritter.
While we can’t all agree on the name, we can agree that these sound delicious!
It's a potato scallop. Potato cake is American. Thanks McDonalds!

I am willing to sue McDonalds for false advertising if they refer to this as a scallop. It's a potato cake!https://t.co/068JLhyb6v

The new menu item is the ‘perfect combination of crunchy tempura coating and fluffy potato served with chicken salt.’
Available at Maccas from January 11 for a limited time across all restaurants nationwide and via McDelivery.
